The Power of Words

Words are such a powerful thing that most people don’t even think twice about.  I know a lot of people who will just blurt out what is going through their mind without any regard for how will affect others.

You never know how long your words will stay in someone’s mind long after you have forgotten you even spoke them.  It is not always easy to remember to think about what we are saying before we actually say it.  I know I have had my fair share of ‘foot in mouth’ moments in the past.  In some situations this problem is often unavoidable.  Some conversations move so fast that you don’t have time to think about what you have said until the words have already parted from you lips.  But at this point, it’s often too late.

Aside from the occasional slip up there are the people who intentionally say things to you to get a reaction.  These are the types of people I simply cannot tolerate. They are just downright nasty and will say things that they know will offend; but that of course is their intention. People can be so cruel to each other.  This is something that I have often had trouble wrapping my head around.  I have never completely understood what is gained by putting someone else down.  Does it make that person feel better about themselves or is it pure insecurity from the person being mean.  That they simply cannot make it through life without feeling that they are the superior person in any situation? I don’t think I will ever totally get this, but in a way I glad I don’t.

Another way that words can be dangerous is when someone is telling a story about another and they embellish a little to make them sound more interesting the listener.  The listener who could possibly be hearing about the person being talked about may never have met them and yet they already have a picture in their mind of what that person is like be it a true reflection or not.  The listener has allowed themselves to be influenced by person telling the story through their views of the person.

Not all people will get along but I am a strong beliver in finding out for myself what someone is like.  I am not saying for a second that i have not, in the past, listened to a friend talking about soemone that i know of; but am not so familiar with.  I too have taken on board what they have had to say about their opinions and experiences with the person but i still like to retain the final judgement for myself.

The moral of my ramblings are:

Be careful what you say to people.

Always think about what your intentions are when you are talking to someone.  Never intentionally say things that are not true to make yourself sound more interesting or to make the person you are talking to feel any less valued.  Always try to be polite and friendly; aside from making you into a nicer person to be around it actually does make you feel good.

Take car of eachother and be happy! 🙂

My furbaby’s Birthday

Well it has been one whole year since Jack entered the world and what a year it has been.

We have had so much fun with him over the last year and I wouldn’t change a single second of it for the world.  He really is a little character with his own unique personality! I mean the guy even has a favourite song… I don’t think I know any dogs who have a favourite song.  But that’s my Monkey (Jack) and that is why he is one of a kind.

I love my Monkey more than anything in this world.  He is so fun hardly ever in a bad mood and he is a total Mammys boy 🙂

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY JACK

National Lazy Day

So apparently today is National Lazy Day! This is a fact I learned from the radio whilst on my way home from work today. I’m not sure if this is actually something that we should be celebrating.

I also heard today that apparently lazy people are also the most intelligent amongst us.  This is a fact that I must disagree with.  How is it possible to be lazy and intelligent.  In my opinion intelligent people tend to have active minds.  This being the case they are always thinking about a variety of different things. Myself for example, when I have nothing to do I contstantly find myself thinking about jobs that need to be done, things I need to get for the house, things I can do project wise, different senarios of things that have happened throughout the day, etc.

It is for the reasons above that I find it hard to believe that an intelligent person can be classed as one the laziest people. In my opinion I feel that lazy people are they types of people who have nothing to motivate them in their lives and and no get up and go in them.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on this! 🙂

Together we can make it through…

No matter how hard times get. Even when you feel like giving up you have to remember that everyone has that point when they feel totally alone. But YOU are not!

There is always a solution for the problem, a resolution to any obstacle and a victory when you finally make it to the other side.

Everything happens for a reason!

As long as you accept that bad things happen to make us appreciate the good when comes!

Life is a wonderful journey filled with unexpected twists and turns.  The big man will never give you more than you can handle.

I hope that this inspires everyone who sees this to power through and achieve their goal even when they feel that all hope is lost.

Garden Revamp

Myself, Dan (my other half) and Jack found ourselves very newly proud home owners back in March of this year and I got to tell you it does feel like such an achievement to own a piece of land on this rock.

We purchased the house from an elderly lady who was simply unable, due to health reasons, to keep on top of the general maintenance that the garden needed.  It was an amazing purchase as the amount of land that came with it was incredible.  A lot more than any other property on our street.

I have something of a passion for turning something that is rundown into something of beauty again and when I saw this property I knew that I just had to have it for that reason alone.

Since we have moved in we have done quite a lot of work in small quantities.  Besides updating the old fashioned living room as much as we possibly could with the money we had spare after the move I have now turned my attention to the garden.  As summer is upon us I like to think of the garden as an extension to the house.  Like another room if you will.  I like it to be neat and tidy with nothing out of place.  I am big believer in curb appeal and when we moved in this property looked more like something out of a horror movie than a welcoming abode.

BEFORE

Above is a before picture as the garden front garden was when we moved in.  It doesn’t really help that the weather was bad on the day that this picture was taken but you can see that everything was pretty much overgrown and out of control.  It was safe to say that I hated everything about it.  Majority of the work that we have done out here is mainly tidying up and weeding… oh boy there was so much weeding!!!

AFTER

Gravel side of front garden after.png

Here is what it currently looks like.  I just finished painting the wall last night.  After days of having to look at it half finished because of the rain we have been having.  Yes it rains in Wales even during the summer! I love how much of in improvement it has made and am actually starting to enjoy looking out of my window at this.

there is a still a whole lot of garden left to do but I will keep you posted on my progress.
